Pera Museum presents Swedish glass artist Åsa Jungnelius’ first solo exhibition in Turkey titled A Verse, Written with Earth, Fire, Water and Air. Expanding across obsidian fields of Eastern Anatolia, the glass furnaces of Denizli, and marble steeped in Byzantine history, the exhibition unfolds as a poetic journey through matter and meaning.

The catalogue accompanying the exhibition features a comprehensive text by curator Elif Kamışlı on the culmination and research stage of the exhibition. It also includes an article by Tim Ingold, one of the leading figures in anthropology, who examines the origins of glass in relation to Åsa Jungnelius’s works, and an essay by archaeology and cultural heritage professor Bodil Petersson titled “Movements and Transformations of Glass”, which explores glass production in Sweden’s Småland region. The catalogue also presents a rich selection of photographs by Peo Olsson, the artist who accompanied Åsa Jungnelius throughout her research and production in Eastern and Western Anatolia during the development of the exhibition.
